COINS is proud to share a new video that highlights teachings and perspectives on smudging in a healthcare setting.
This video was created in partnership with the Kootenay Boundary Division of Family Practice, Interior Health, and the Kootenay Boundary Aboriginal Services Collaborative, as a step toward fostering greater understanding and respect for Indigenous cultural practices within healthcare environments.
Creating safe, culturally inclusive spaces in healthcare is essential to building trust and improving outcomes for Indigenous patients and families. This video provides meaningful insight into the cultural and spiritual importance of smudging, along with guidance on how it can be respectfully supported in hospitals, clinics, and other health care settings.
